8th Grade Portfolio Assessment
Directions
Paper Portfolio Directions:
 | Make many copies of the standards check-off (column) list. |
 | Have students print copies of work as they complete projects
 | Attach the assignment sheet to the back of the work – including the
rubric |
 | Attach the check-off list to the front of the work |

 | The teacher and student "check off" the standards (based on the rubric)

Collection options:
 | 3 ring binder, file folders |
 | keep the portfolios in a file box in a classroom or homeroom, etc. |
 | put a disk holder in the back of a binder for electronic copies |
Digital Portfolio Directions:
 | Students need disk space somewhere: Disk, C: drive, Home directory |
 | Create a folder named "name’s technology standards portfolio" |
 | Inside the folder, create a Word document called Title Page |
 | Inside the folder, create another folder called "Work" |
 | File management is key here! |
Adding Work
 | Save the project in the "work" folder |
 | list the project on the title page and link the project title to the file
in the work folder |
 | link the directions and rubric also |
Saving the whole portfolio
 | Save the whole folder at once on a CD or other media. This should preserve
pathways between files. |
Notes:
 | Word documents can be linked together similar to web pages |
 | OR Word documents can be saved as html documents and viewed in a browser |
Web Portfolio Directions:
 |
Get permission from your web administrator |
 |
Use a web software that creates a web on a local machine or
local drive (front page will do this) |
 |
The teacher publishes the work when it is complete and ready
to post |
 |
Webs can be created in front page without posting it to
internet |
